The church ceremony was lovely and I was asked to do a reading - I chose an Apache Blessing:
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness for you,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place,
To enter into the days of your togetherness.
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.
May the sun bring you new energy by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night,
May the rain wash away your worries
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And all of the days of your life may you walk
Gently through the world and know its beauty.
After the church service we went across the road and did the signing of the register. We were lucky as there was aircon which cooled us all down! We then all hopped on the bus, which was kindly organised by Gabor's friend, back to the wedding venue where some cold drinks were waiting for us. Pictures were taken, guests mingled and drinks were consumed.
I could sit and type forever about every single detail of the wedding but to sum it up:
Hungarian folk dancers, fire water, fruit platters, photographs, more fire water, dancing, delicious traditional food, beers, more photos, dancing and more fire water. A stunning sunset, emotional speeches, a beautiful bride and groom. Traditions, yet more firewater, live singing, clinking glasses, more photos and more dancing. A full moon, candlelight, singing, dancing and you guessed it more firewater. Neil drinking out of Rita's shoe, a funky first dance, special moments and a frozen egg in Neil's trousers (don't ask!). Balloons, dancing, more beer, cake and more firewater, traditional Hungarian games including a version of musical chairs. And finally....bed time!
